Two Serious Poems

A couple of weeks ago, I did a gig at a library and everyone laughed and a great time was had by all. Afterwards a lady came up to me and said she had had a wonderful time, but it would have been nice to have heard a serious poem or two.

My collection ‘Woodview’ was full of ‘serious’ poems, so when I performed this week at Brixham Museum, I stuck in a couple of serious poems from that collection.

‘Diaries’ was taken from my show In the Glare of the Neon Yak, and is about the act of memory from the perspective of old age. ‘Dream Zones’ was from my show The Moon Wrapped in String, and it is about fleeting male beauty, and the landscape, and mythology.

Anyway, I hope you like them. The audio can be found below.
